Charleston, South Carolina, Central Fire Station, c1895

After the devastating earthquake of 1886, the city built three different firehouses around Charleston. The Central Fire Station on the corner of Meeting and Wentworth streets served as the fire department�s headquarters from 1888 to 1974. Today it is home to Engines 102 and 103, also housing antiques from the city�s firefighting past.
