Standing tall above the street and looking out to Lake Michigan, the Municipal Courts Building and the Illinois Athletic Club were two of Chicago�s iconic early skyscrapers. The 12-story, 40-foot-wide Lake View Building was built in 1907 and leased to the Municipal Court. Next door, the Illinois Athletic Club Building was completed a year later as an extravagant headquarters for the athletic organization.
