Chicago, Illinois, Outside the Great Northern, c1907

The Great Northern Hotel towered over the corner of Dearborn Street and Jackson Boulevard. One of Chicagos earliest skyscrapers, it was built just in time for the 1893 Worlds Fair. The luxurious 500 room 16-story hotel, which featured eight separate dining rooms, was a popular spot during the festivities due to its central location near the fairgrounds.
