Denver, Colorado, The Equitable Building, c1910

The Equitable Building was Denvers tallest building until the D&F clock tower was erected in 1911. Unlike other more modern, steel-framed skyscrapers cropping up in the early 20th century, the Equitable was built upon pink granite quarried from Pikes Peak, one of Colorados famous fourteeners, a term used to describe mountains higher than 14,000 feet.
