Portland hosted the World�s Fair in 1905 and named it the Lewis & Clark Centennial Exposition to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the famed duo�s arrival to Oregon. Nearly 1.6 million people attended the fair, and 400,000 of them came from outside the Pacific Northwest. The U.S. Government building featured exhibits highlighting Oregon�s prosperity and progress.
