Date estimated. In 1939 opera singer and researcher Dorothea Dix Lawrence (1899-1979) created the radio program "Primer of American Music" (sponsored by the Pennsylvania Board of Education). In 1946 this "Folklore Music Map of the United States," a collaboration between Lawrence and woodcut artist and illustrator Harry Cimino (1898-1969) (who is attributed at lower right of the map) collaborated to produce this fascinating piece of Americana.
