The cemetery became famous when it was featured in the 1994 novel "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" by John Berendt, and in the movie, directed by Clint Eastwood, based on the book. Many tourists visit the cemetery in hopes of seeing the "Bird Girl" statue that was prominent the "Midnight" book cover. It had stood in the graveyard for more than 50 years, but after the movie version of the book played, it was moved to one of the Telfair museums in Savannah. | Credit line: Photographs in Carol M.
