Providence, Rhode Island, Artillery Parade at Exchange Place, c1903

In October of 1903, the first armed forces to land in the country in over a century paraded through the city of Providence to meet with Rhode Island State infantry and officials. The Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of London, alongside their Massachusetts based company, were greeted with great fanfare in the city. Hundreds of people filled the extravagantly decorated Exchange Place to cheer on the soldiers.
