Savannah, Georgia, Old Chatham County Courthouse, c1895

On Wright Square, the Old Chatham County Courthouse stands in a place where many courthouses stood before it. At least two courthouses were demolished for the construction of a new one before this Romanesque Revival structure was erected in 1889. Due to the historical and architectural significance of the building, when Chatham County decided to build a larger courthouse in the 1970s they, thankfully, left this one where it stood.
