The Jersey Shore, Ocean Pier, Wildwood, c1905

Ocean Pier is considered the first amusement pier to have opened along the Jersey Shore. Beach goers were entertained with carrousel rides, games, dances and theatre. In 1935 William Hunt purchased the Pier, lining its walkways with amusement style rides. Twenty-two years later, it burned down. The pier was rebuilt in 1957 with high quality rides and renamed Hunts Pier, quickly becoming one of the states most popular amusement parks.
